We had five Greymouth members (Harrison Whittaker, Bob Brown, Martin Bennett & Paul Hedwig alongside his much better half Wendy) travel to Canterbury last weekend for their annual ‘Premier 200’ Compak shoot. The Sunday doubled as the South Island North Zone shoot.

Canterbury definitely had the pick of the weather for this weekend, with just light breezes and warm, dry conditions perfect for shooting. The target setters made the most of what they had to work with and utilising their UT trenches was great for hiding traps. The targets were all first class, everything was there to be hit and you could see everything perfectly. It was great to see the club had installed a raised platform from which to shoot. Surprising how being elevated changes your perception of speed and angles when shooting.
From a visitors perspective this weekend of shooting was a great success. Well organised, everything flowed well (the odd trap malfunction but you get that). Great variety and technicality of targets. The raised platform adding that little bit extra to the shoot and in my opinion well worth the money it would have cost to put in place. Thanks to all involved in making this shoot happen.
